driving back home tonight and started hearing a constant rattle from underneath/engine bay..only happens when car is moving and not on idle.sounds like metal to metal type of a sound and is quite noticeable..any idea what it can be?can it be a heat sheld on a exhaust or something..?

you got it already i reckon.it sounds like heat shield but as has been said dont chance it unless you can get underneath to listen

I heard a rattling noise 2 weeks ago. 2 weeks from now I'll be driving with a new 2.5 engine.... It wasn't a heat shield

 

I had a similar noise from mine...it turned out to be the metal cover over the turbo.
