Unhappy

My pack finally arrived this morning, only to read that Driving Licenses need to be presented before going on track!

Mine was in a briefcase stolen on Tuesday

What do I do? any ideas?

Is it SIDC that require it or Oulton Park? I have been on track days on/with both and never needed it before?

Can I get a faxed copy from DVLA? would that do?

Any other ideas? Will ring Stef, but he doesn't get up this early

Making it all worse - It's by Birthday tomorrow as well the track day was/is a present

Give DVLA a tinkle, a faxed copy of your licence will suffice gazza my little cup cake.

That is of course if you HAVE a licence, cos if I didnt, thats exactly the excuse I'd use.

GaryC,

Have you needed it recently for insurance?? I know not via me, but for your last policy did you have to provide a copy licence?? If so call your broker and he should have a copy on file.

Other than that I agree with the above - call DVLA asap and ask if they can assist...I would however suggest that you don't advise them it is for a Track Day - I would suggest you advise that you have been required to produce it or a copy by Saturday -

Sorry can't be of any more assistance

Tom

Thanks for the help, tips, pointers, and pet names???

Crisis over!

Spoke to DVLA who were absolutely useless! conversation went..

“Hi, I’ve lost my driving license, can you send me a basic copy so I can take part in a track day tomorrow”

“yes”

“Great!”

“We can do a print-out of your details, It’ll cost you £3.50 ”

“Great, can you fax it”

“Well, we’re not supposed to, but if you post a cheque in I’ll see what I can do”

“but I need it for tomorrow, a cheque won’t get there until at least Monday”

“Yes, but we’ll turn it round within 7 days”

“BUT I NEED IT FOR TOMORROW”

“Right…you can get the circuit to ring us tomorrow and we can confirm your license”

“Great, some one will be at the DVLA on a Saturday Morning will they”

“No, but theres and answering service and the'll called you back on monday”

“Can I get them to ring today, and get you to confirm the details”

“Yes, but you’ll need to give us permission”……….. ……

To cut a long story short, Oulton Park were fantastic. They have rung the DVLA muppets and got confirmation, and so I will be on track, birthday saved, hair still in place

Big BIG thanks to Ollie and others at Oulton Park

…and thanks to the namesless two that offered to ‘sort me out with a specially arranged license’
