Anyone shed any light on this problem ??

Had new clutch from Scoobysport 5-6 months ago , but clutch pedal always seems to only return halfway to normal (put foot under clutch pedal to lift it back) , do all Subaru's do this ?? Or could it be the clutch cable ??

Answers on a postcard please!!

Many thanks in advance

Nate

Check the spring on the actuator arm under the intercooler.
Its job is to hold the release arm against the release bearing. If it has not been refitted then, when you accererate hard, the arm comes back and pushes the slave cylinder into its housing. This uses up your pedal travel as you pump the piston out again.

Took me weeks to find this out

yeah, mine does it quite often, not necessarily on fast starts either, is bloody annoying though...have to lift it with foot, it is only the last 1/2 inch or so.
the spring is in place, but noticed when fitting clutch, and also when swapping gearbox, that this spring hooks on with very light finger pressure, maybe it needs more tension?

There is also a return spring under the brake pedal itself which could be the problem. I had mine fall out when I was doing some gymkhana events.

Had the same problem on mine... turned out to be a partially jammed clutch master cylinder ! reco'ed it and its much lighter in operation and no sticking.
