I had a karcher years ago, which worked for about ten minutes... and have recently had a couple of Halfords machines, which haven't lasted much longer.

I now need a new on, and am not sure what to use. I'd like something I can foam with- although I have a gilmour foam gun, our water pressure is usually real low and the results have been rather disappointing.

Maybe I'm just using the wrong product in it?

Don't want to use anything that will remove the lsp, but will use the gilmour if there's something more effective than the 'snow foam' crap I bought off ebay that didn't even foam much, let alone snow!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

honda gc-180 petrol pressure washer. exalent bit of kit & can run all your gadgets. I run a hand car wash in weymouth using these machines so they tend to be on full tilt all day 6 days a week & ive had no problems in the last 18months of using this machine. I used karcher petrol pressure washers befor these & never got longer than 3 months use before a failure which wasnt good at £1500 a go. The honda was £400 from northerntools.com

 

Interesting feedback, my little domestic Karchers tend to need repairs every 1-2 years, but our HDS hot water unit has performed faultlessly since new just over a year ago. Some of the chaps on Detailing World swear by Lavor domestic hot water units, which can be had for as little as £500 (cheap in comparison to the Karcher units). Whatever you go for, this style of foam lance would be best...

So you use the Meguiars Hyper Wash in the foam gun? If so at what ratio?

 

400:1 (water: product), which equates to about 1cm of Hyper Wash in the bottom of the lance bottle; fill the rest with hot water, then you're all set.

im looking at buying a pressure washer mainly for washing the car is there a cheap alternative for me? i was thinking sub £100 was a reasonable price for foaming the car every now and then.or should i be just looking at the hose attachments? also may be silly to some but do you foam with hot or cold water? thanks
