just had a new uprated exedy organic clutch fitted and a decat down pipe. i had a standard clutch fitted before and used to be able to downshift no probs (no throttle blip) when in low rpm range. Down****fs with the new clutch seem really jerky, am i going to have to rev match down changes even when i shift down at low revs. Is this just a feature of the uprated clutch or does it need time to wear in?

did u have the flywheel skimmed if not then there ya problem as i rule your should always skim the flywheel when changing a clutch on a scooby

 

i'm not sure if they skimmed it..if i were to get it skimmed would this involve complete removal of the clutch and another 4.5 hours labour?

 

unfortunately yes it would as the flywheel has to come of the car to be skimmed

 

well i may be exagerating a little when i said it was really jerky, the garage i goto is pretty reliable, i'm sure they would have consulted me if it needed skimming? so its not a trait of a race type clutch then?

 

if the flywheel wasnt skimmed then that means that the new clutch will need to bed in but in my experience it wont completely go as for your garage id go back and ask them if they did or not just for peace of mind but in my view it should of been done regardless of the type of clutch fitting . and no it not common to get judder from a fast road clutch as that is what u have had fitted not a race clutch

FYI, even with a skimmed flywheel it will take a while to bed in.
My first few 100miles where a bit juddery but alls good now.
