Impreza RB5. No 190 of 444 detailed, pic heavy.
No 190 of 444 built.
The car was dropped off by Caryn and Phil on Saturday Lunchtime.
First Job was a washdown to remove existing protection prior to inspection of the Paintwork and get the tons of brakedust from the AP's off the wheels.
Bodywork washed down twice with a Strong APC solution through steam cleaner, wheels cleaned with CG's Redberry Wheel Cleaned @ 4:1.
Engine bay was fairly clean so it got a quick soaking with AS G101 @ 4:1, brushround to remove dust etc and rinsed.
Handwash with 2 bucket method.
Rinsed and dried off using a Miracle Dryer MF towel.
Into the workshop for Paint inspection.
Lots of deep swirling and scratches evident across most area's of the car, Paint thickness varied hugely across the car indicating a full respray and further additional work to other area's.
Hard work to get good pictures of the condition of the paintwork due to the colour.
A couple of Nasty Random Scratches on the roof.
At first i thought this was a deep scratch, but as I looked closer it ran the full width of the bootlid varying in depth and width, I assume it has been done by a paintshop with a knife used to cut masking paper etc, very careless.
Wetsanded the worst area's with Mirka Abralon 1800 followed bt 3600.
Paint thickness readings.
No single test panel would be any use today so I had to test each panel as I went to get the required level of correction.
The whole car turned out to be Hard Laquer in Audi/VW scales, way harder than the usual soft Subaru Paintwork.
Most area's needed Menz Power Gloss S34A on a LC Green Heavy Polishing Pad to achieve adequate correction, these area's were then refined with Menz PO85 on a Meg's Polishing Pad, leaving a nice Jewelled finish.

A Pillar.
After Correction shots. Carbon fibre corrected with PC and Menz PO85 on a 3 inch Sonus Polishing Pad.
Paintwork was finished with Chem Guys Jetseal 109 x 2 and Chem Guys 50/50 Concourse Ltd Edition Wax x 2.
Wheels jetsealed, tyres and rubber trims, CG's New Look trim Dressing.
After completion.
