Default sti5 clicks going into 5th at high revs :(

when changing from 4th to 5th it seems to click into place instead of like the rest of the gears,is this a worry ie rebuild

Strong possibility of 5th gear synchro damage being the cause

Thumbs up

loose locking nut - comparatively quick job - do it sooner before you do chew up the synchro

A VERY good possibility, as fatboy says, is the 'big nut ' on the end of the mainshaft coming loose, steadily.

It can be done in situ in that model and will take about 3 - 4 hours from start to finish. We do it quite regularly here.

It is better sorted quickly rather than later, as once the synchro and slider get damaged the ' click ' will turn into a crunch and be there forever.

I get a crunch when changing in to 4th and 5th at 7000 rpm on my six speed box.

Found this out a Silverston a few weeks ago.

Is it bad???
