This weekend I am going to change my plugs myself.

Not done it on a scooby before, but shouldnt be too hard, done it on all my other cars.

I usually screw it in with my hands first carefully so i can make sure it went in right, is this possible with impreza engines? Doesnt look like much room.

Also, do the plugs need to be gapped at all? I have bought some Nology Silver plugs..?

And i am guessing i just need to remove the airbox and washer bottle?

Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

0.7mm is the normal gap
Don't know about hand tight as my hands are a little bit too big

 

trick for putting them in is a bit of hose on the plug so you can tighten them by hand as without it your hand wont reach.

gap wise depends on boost your running but average is 0.70 hope that helps

 

just done them on mine, used a spark plug socket and a flexi knuckle joint for the extension bar, drivers side is not bad, but passenger side is a bit tight, took washer bottle and battery out for a bit of room to play.
did mine hand tight with the socket then just nipped it up when got tight then.

 

Just an idea, if you plan an oil change at the same time you can do them from underneath. I did mine this way and it's really easy, just the under tray that's a pain to remove and refit. The plugs are supposed to be pre gaped, always check them though because I have yet to have a set I was happy with.

Also ive been told scoobys are prone to stripping the thread when removing plugs?

How true is this?
