Default We don't like big puddles

I got caught in some flash floods last week, 6 inches of standing water on parts of the M11 and after deciding to get off it then found much the same problem in the villages. Finally gave up on the journey and went back home, where I left the car running for 10 mins to dry it out abit before calling it a day.
When I next used it 4 days later I found the clutch makes a whirring noise when I depress the pedal (sounds a bit like a Scalextrix car). Apart from the noise everything works fine. I guess some water got into the bellhousing and the noise is because something has got rusty.
Any ideas?

Most likely to be the water has got into the clutch release bearing and is noisy when in contact with the clutch cover.

Surely they must use a sealed bearing?
