a mate of mine has a wrx blobeye with 36k on clock, and we were out in it lastnight. he was driving quite hard but not anything abusive, as he went to change gear it stuck in the gear he was driving in, so pulled over to have a look and the gear stick is locked tight in 5 gear. can any one advise me what this could be????

 

Probably the nut on the end of the mainshaft in the gearbox come loose and causing 5th gear to lock up.

 

if these is the case will the gearbox need stripping and repairing? is that a know fault? thanks for the advice

 

Best thing you can do is to contact David @ API Engines - he should be able to confirm exactly what the problem is and talk you through the options.
