Default gearbox confusion

somebody please help me out here!!

I have removed a broken P1 box and diff from my 1995 JDM WRX and have been told I need a V5/6 box and diff to go back in.

I have also been I cannot use another gearbox in the car because of various reasons, one of them being the amount of holes that connect the gearbox up, now the bit I dont understand is the car is a 1995 model with a 1999/2000 P1 gearbox so surely I can use a earlier gearbox as thats what would have been in to start with.

The problem is I cant find a V5/6 gearbox/diff anywhere

So now I have engine out for HD and no gearbox to put back in, I had a V5 uk Turbo box/diff sorted but was let down at the last min!!!

Any ideas greatly appreciated!!

Thanks

James

I don't see why you cant use an earlier box (TY752) although they are deemed weaker than the later versions due to case design.

My MY98 WRX has a TY752VBCAA which uses the 4 bolt method to hold it to the engine.

There are plenty of boxes about if you need an earlier version. You already know that the rear diff needs to match?

Wayne.
