Default advice

hello firstly, new to the world of subaru, me and the wife are currently in the process of selling of our cars mk2 jetta gti, mk2 golf gti, and a escort, and are investing in a scooby! probably going for a 2000 turbo, seen a few around but dont really no much about them ie mileage, problems, servicing costs etc etc, weve had a few vws, so no if we hit over a 100 thousand miles were ok, whats the deal with the impreza mileage! are there any problems to look for over a certain mileage?

cheers

Some on here have done 140,000, others need a new gearbox at 40,000 !

It's all about a pile of receipts and service records, a few careful owners helps.

TXT talk in an ad means run away !

IMHO

Not sure if investing is the right word to use, more like yet another further different motor purchase at much cost and stress to your poor wife :P

Thanks for the advice dunx, never even owned a jap car before, been in the dub scene for a while

Well we know the obvious differences in bhp etc but what we mean is a 2000 still a good buy for performance, reliability and tuneabiliy etc??

You two a double act ?

LOL

Only real difference is cost due to insurance, WRX & STI have more power as standard, but my have used all of it.... a nice UK car plodding around at 215 bhp may well have had an easier life, and will pick up loads of power with a few tasty mods.... It really is down to fixing a price and viewing loads till you find one that's the best you can afford.

I was lucky in that I came to Scooby ownership in 1997 with a brand new Catalunya.... after 37,000 miles, and four plus years, it had only needed brake pads and servicing.
Got a silly good trade-in to swap for a 2002 STI and haven't felt the need to change, I would like a three door hatch for my dogs tho'.

Sorry no better suggestions, but I would suggest finding someone local who knows a bit to check one over for you...
