Yes I know this is the wrong forum but it takes ages to get an answer in the tyres section.

Im looking to buy tyres for my current car (non scoob) - it currently wears 185 65 R15 88V spec tyres. My question is what does the 88 refer to? V means rated up to 149mph but seeing as my car dies at 125 I think H (130mph) spec would suffice. I just need to know what that 88 means so I dont go buying the wrong tyres?

That should be the weight rating for the tyre, but I can't give you exact figures for what its rated too. Any decent tyre place will though, and by that I don't mean Quack Fut.

So moving from 185 65 R15 88V to 185 65 R15 88H should be ok I guess?

Yes should be fine, in smaller vehicles its not too much of a problem. The only time I came across a problem was trying to get low profile tyres for a Honda Shuttle (don't ask why).
