Default Autobahn88 clamps

Are they good quality or prone to blow off at the slightest whiff of boost, i have time to get some mikalor or murphys clamps but i need to know if i need them.

unless they have changed them resently then you need to buy some others.

Hi Hux, get the good ones mate, and make sure if the pipes have been modified they are properly swaged or at least have a line of weld around the ends. Nothing worse than pop off pipes when you're mapping!

I bought the mikalor ones but could only use them on the throttle body as they swashed the thin pipes that come the Autobahn FM. I used proper jubilee clips which have been fine running 1.4 bar of boost. The cheap ones blew off when AF mapped my car !

i`m the only one that I know of that got the intercooler with these clamps. I Bought my intercooler around November/december and fitted it at christmas so its possible that these are newer/updated kits

I've never used Mikalors - I always use JCS 'Hi Grip' stainless, which are nothing fancy, just really well made, long lasting jubilee clips that work. They've never let me down. The Autobahn ones I got with my FMIC did the job temporarily but I have had a couple of surprise blown-off pipes due to them. And if you tighten them too much they just break.

So yes, save yourself some hassle now and replace them with something decent.

Got it from flat4 for about £350 with an apexi power intake.

I can easily get hold of the proper jubilee made clips, cost a bit but they are very weighty and can have them in zinc or stainless.

Then again they are a fastener company so will probably have heay duty ones in stock.

I'll wait to see what the clamps i get are like first as tiny's do look a bit meatier than i expected.

I've personally not had any problems with the autobahn clamps so far (~3000 miles running at 1.5 bar).

I think the trick is not to overtighten them (they're a bit flimsy and bend easily) and use hairspray on the pipe ends before pushing the silicone coupler on.

Also, when you tighten them up, the metal band that comes out of the clamp wants to twist out to the left, hold this in line with your fingers as you're tightening and you can generally tighten the clamp up properly without mashing up the track (but again, do *not* over tighten them).

Well i was thinking of using some fire paste but decided if the clamps aren't to my liking i'll just buy a better set anyway.

After some reading i know most of the sizes now so i'll wait to see what they're like, they might have improved like tiny's ones.
