Default should check engine light stay on constantly when theres a fault

I have just discovered that someone had taken out the bullb for the check engine light on my mates new my00 turbo so i have put one in and two fault codes have shown up (22 and 23) which i am going to sort out but i did not think that the check engine light usually stays on constantly? i have had the same two sensors go before on a my00 and the light only flicked on a couple of times. so why is it staying on this time? i have reset the ecu and its still the same. I will change the sensors anyway and see what happens.

if there is a constant fault with sensors or wiring then cel will be on constant.

on yours the sensors might have been intermittently breaking down? so light was only coming on intermittently?
