Default What turbo for........................

A built 2.5 with darton sleeves.

I plan to build a new engine with the afformentioned 2.5 running a Std crank and will be using GT spec headers, 740's and Sti V4 heads. I have a full 3" decat system, ECU will be simtek

So what are the reccomendations please gents, the turbo's i have considered are:

TD05/06-20G
FP red/green
MD321T
GT30/35

An MD321T+ will be just the ticket then and give you the power and drivability that you want. I have just had a similar spec engine built and will be using the same turbo, it is supplied by Mark @ Lateral performance.

We are currently running an AET "drop in" GT30 hybrid on the ScoobyNet Spec C project car (which is now 2.5l). We have recently reached 530bhp / 550lbft on Vpower, but that is on a different spec to your engine. Worth giving them a call though!

I have a rotated gt30r on mine but if I done it again I would go with an MD321t the only turbo I'm unsure of is the FP but I really can't see it spooling as soon as the MD ??? the td05/06 20 is the worst out of that bunch followed by what I pressume is a standard fit GT30/35 !!!

So realistically your best choice is an M321t/md321t+ or an fp green/red ???

It uses the standard subaru .63 exhaust housing and it has a GT 30 core.

oh and it made over 420bhp on ps rollers yesterday on the hydra. That was on low boost of 1 bar. Lol more to my setup than just the turbo though. The whole combination gives me more torque and power low down, when compared to my previous ultra responsive twin scroll setup. Full details will be given in the next article, engine stage 3, going live next week on scoobynet. All 50 pages of it. apologies for the format of this, as i am on my mobile.

Sounds good, lots of votes for MD321t but as i already have a TD05/6-20g i shall try this to see how it goes, there is scope for improvement thats for sure so i can leave that for another mod another day when i am bored with this one!!!
I can't help but notice how much you can get a GT30 for in comparison to the MD, would the MD really be worth the extra wedge?

How long would the standard 2.5 crank last with that amount of power though??

Scoobysmiff.
Don't compare a GT30 with a GT30 Hybrid that simply bolts on using the standard mounting positions. They are a totally different beast altogether. The Hybrid that bolts straight on is normally dearer..... but requires less gas (and money in total) to fit etc.

Marx Mcrae,
Standard crank is fine at this level....... unless of course you fit a billet one and want the best.
