uk gearbox on import wrx

Default uk gearbox on import wrx

hi just a quick question, would i be able to put a classic uk gearbox diff etc on to my classic wrx import engine?

if so what would be the disavantages/advantanges?

Box will fit on the engine, but will not match the rear diff ratio. Get diff with the UK box and you will be ok, just hard work swopping it all over.
iirc the UK box has taller ratios.

thanks graham, i was just thinking short term with the uk gearbox and diff just so im back on the road. what difference will i notice with having taller ratios compared to import drivetrain

i just hope i dont lose any fun factors

Not that much...you might even enjoy the relaxation. I think first speed ratio is the same on all 5 speeders (I think!) then it all changes.

Better fuel consumption so you can feel 'green' for a while..

sounds quite good then for a little while anyways. can wait for it to be back on the road

as for the better fuel consumption i think the wallet will be happier

What about the strength of the UK box V the JDM?

I was thinking about this but am saving the pennies for a 6 speed.
