Default Co2 Question?

Is there a computer at subaru that can ajust CO2 emissions??

I was told my CO2 is high and needs turning down, this was at the MOT station. Is there a devise that can do this

It will be CO and not CO2!
CO2 is a by product, and not used as such in the tuning process.
You can't adjust it in any event, as the car is Lambda controlled.
If you post the figures, CO, HC and Lambda, I'll tell you where the problem is!

Have'nt got the reading as I was told it failed MOT over the phone.
They just said the CO/Co2 whichever is double what it should be.
I'm assuming they did a no cat test as they fitted the exhaust at the last MOT.
They are sending it to another garage tomorrow to somehow lower the reading electronically

Have'nt heard of that before

Ask them for the print out as i get it everytime i've had my car MOT'd.

Taking it to another garage to lower the reading seems a bit dodgy to me (or am i being a bit cynical?)

It does sound dodgy, I can't workout what they can do to lower it!

I have'nt had a chance to get a print out, and they are always busy when I've phoned them

It only takes a minute to get the readout.



not exactly hard to get a bit of paper like that

My CO reading on that was 0.695 % vol (93wrx decat,freeflow exhaust)

Isn't there something about imports being able to go through emitions tests with higher results due to the fact that there is no set guide or some **** on emitions levels for an import spec car... 'I think' they have to run the emitions test using the old measures. Pre '93 or whenever cats became law.

Pre July 95 imports can get away with the BET (the wrx and sti aren't on the Vosa database (yet)so they have no specifications to test them against).

The CO can't be adjusted on these cars, as the Lambda sensor does it for you. The point of the exercise is to feed the cat with the correct mixture as much as possible to enable the stupid things to carry out the function of CO and HC scrubbing. Without a cat, and a fully functioning lambda system, the CO would be around .5%. With everything pukka, the CO should be zero at idle and 3000 rpm.
You'd be astounded at how many in the motor trade have no idea of how these things function.

Got a call today to say its finally passed. Thanks Alan for that offer and Thanks to everyone else aswell.

FLU1 Fuel Flush
CR100 Code Reader

Not to sure what they did, maybe they were testing it against a CAT test

iNever heard of those being used but most importantly your car has passed
Perhaps next MOT take it to a garage who know how to deal with imports (i may just being cynical).

I think I will

I though it sounded dodgy aswell but I'll keep a closer eye on emissions in future.
Unless the computer ajusts idle etc... I really don't know.

It was'nt all that cheap either, but was desperate to get it through

I'm fairly peed off about the whole thing TBH.

Failed on minor things such as 2 bulbs gone which I should have spotted and headlight alignment. Thats it

And the emssions of course. £249!!! Could'nt be bothered to argue, just wanted it back.

Will go else where in future
