Don't bother with an induction kit, unless you need one because of a FMIC for example.

Waste of money and the standard airbox is good enough for over 420bhp.... just get an uprated panel filter.

All in my honest opinion of course.

Default Which Filter?

Hi, I also have a WRX 01 Bug Eye and was also looking at induction kts and panel filters. I think I'm just going to go for a new filter to start with. I've been looking at the K&N filters, are these the best to go for or are there others out there that people would recommend? I noticed someone else on here had the sane car and a "Green panal filter" is this a brand name and are they any good?

Thanks...

Green and K&N are both good, but musn't be over oiled if you don't want to replace the MAF, alternatively Subaru's own STi (disposeable filter) gets good reviews!

I have had a KN panel filter on mine for 7 months now, no problems at all. As I have a MY99 the MAF is notoriously weak and its been fine. As previously said just don't over oil it and it will be good for 350bhp.

Default Oil?

So does this mean I have to oil it before fitting it? I presumed it would just be a straight swap? Is it a special type of oil and does this have to be done on a regular basis?

NO! do not oil it, it comes pre-oiled. Just give it a light oil at service intervals. You can buy a 're-charge' kit from KN, basically a light oil in a tin, just use it sparingly along the grooves on the element.
