"high-performance Jaguar"

Must be the slowest high performance car I've ever seen unless they were feathering the throttle.

Seems somehow ridiculous to me that all this effort be expended to find people committing a 'crime' I do 'better than'(ie more like 160-170) on an almost weekly basis.

I didn't see any dangerous driving in the video, what's the problem? The road was completely empty.

Arresting them for being oiks with no taste would be another matter.......

Yeah the high performance bit confused me a bit an all. I think the reason they are being persued is because they were daft enough to post it on the net!

Guess it's an easy catch for the Police, my point was I don't see any real crime being committed other than fashion/style misdemeanours.

What a fuss over nothing. I'll bet 9/10 people on here have done over that speed.

It's the only way to stretch the legs of an XJS v12....120mph in second gear is an unfortunate nessesity when giving the old girl its periodic Italian tune up. Without it, it fouls up and runs as lumpy as hell.

BTW.....wasn't me guv

Come on, video it then !

I would imagine its easy in a 911 turbo and a quiet stretch of road, I ended up going faster than was sensible the other night without really trying, not used to cars building speed with any pace over a ton.

Why would I make a video of a supermarket run? The natural cruising speed of the car is about 160kph which might be surprising to those that haven't driven one, it feels rock solid at 220kph and on upto 280ish which is the fastest I've had space to get upto, I just don't trust other vehicles not to pull out and when you have only 2 lanes you're gambling if others are around. In reality I'm hardly driving the 911 faster on the motorway than I would have done my diesel BMW or the S8. Trying to sustain a really high speed cruise just isn't practical due to other traffic and the range restrictions that 6mpg imposes.

Another reason would be that I don't have a video camera, as I'm not into home made **** and don't have any progeny.

Having watched some UK TV reportage on the subject today made me

a)Incredulous

b)very angry, particularly at some stupid bint who had been trotted out to say 'watching the video made her feel physically sick' and that 'so would any right thinking person be' when what they were doing clearly wasn't inherently dangerous or to my mind a criminal act. Particularly not, as I said earlier, when I'm doing a similar thing myself legally on a regular basis. The fact her daughter was killed by some *** speeding in a residential area somehow qualified her to condem what looks like reasonably safe driving on a motorway.

The attitude towards speed in the UK is ignorant, idiotic and illogical.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Yup used to have a 78 xjs.. Had been babied for the few years before i had it. After an oil change and tune up i took it up the 'private air strip' upto about 60 mph then floored it.. dropped to second and chucked out a tank load of soot.. free'd her up lovely never really needed to do it again.

Now that would move with a v12 singing away
