The UK is the country most attached to fast food, closely followed by the United States, a survey has suggested.

And this is after they show a programme with a huge great woman on it 70 stone, i think- oh and guess what? she was an american

 

Although the UK is heading that way, Americans have being overweight just about tuned to a fine art. It isn't so much the "can't give it up" as per the article you mention above but the frequency and the quantity. Americans eat SO much.

Yes I'm generalising, but I work there every month or so and the amount of people vastly overweight is astounding.

We went out to the States for a holiday, and could not believe the size of the portions they dish up! They don't help themselves

 

We used to watch them go jogging in the States. You caold actually walk past them at a normal pace. After 15-20 minutes they would collapse into a "Dunkin Donuts" to replace what they might have lost!
