Scoob broken into early this morning
At around 3.15 this morning was woken up by a noise, thinking that someone is in the back yard. All of a sudden my Dad came running into the back bedroom, saying theres three lads outside breaking into your car.so shot out of bed jumped down the stairs ran outside to see one of them running across the road into the park, obviously we had disturbed them.they had pushed the car off the drive into the road, drivers door open all the key barrell and steering column is in pieces, dont know why my alarm didnt go off,the immobiliser was still on and my steering wheel security lock was still on,they had dislodged my drivers side indicator light.the police were very quick to respond, was round my house taking a statement while another patrol was out looking for them.About half hour later they radioed through to the PC's who was with me saying that they have arrested two youths across the otherside of the park from my house.the patrol had found various tools on them when they had searched the two lads.unfortunately i couldnt give a very good discription of them beacuse they were wearing hoods and it was dark, and were running into the park by the time i got out the front door.I cant touch my car but had to push it back on the drive to unblock the road, untill they have fingerprinted it,which im now waiting for.Im worried about leaving it on the drive for another night.i need to atleast get it started so i can move it to my cousins garage, untill ive sorted out better security..its got a TOAD alarm and immobilser thought they were very good..
Well first off sounds like a nightmare gutted for you mate.If you have to leave it on the drive can you block it in with another car if not can you get a car parked across the entrance.obviously you need to get the alarm sorted as your insurance may be void for theft if you don't, i'd not mention it when/if you call and claim.chances of getting any compo are remote so i wouldn't rely on that.the other thing to cosnider is a driveway barrier but if this is your parents house they may not be keen.where is scooby planet by the way?was anything taken from the car?
Little *******
As Matt says, I'd block it in with another car until its examined/repaired. As for the insurance, I'd get a quote first before telling them. It may work out cheaper to repair yourself and keep any NCB's you have.
Hope you get it sorted soon.

dont they take an indicator out to short circuit the alarm?
just take dizzy cap off, leave a brick behind the wheel nearest the wall so its hard to see, if the radios left in it put it on full vol so when it powers up everyone will hear it

If they disabled the alarm by the indicator method, IT IS INSTALLED BADLY!!!
The idiot who wired it has used the same (fused) power feed to run the alarm as the power feed to run the idicator circuit (they should be seperate). So, short out an indicator, and it blows the fuses killing power to the alarm. The power feed to the alarm should be off a totally seperate high current curcuit (such as power feed to the master ignition relay) Same goes with the power supply central locking circuit too.
Get the alarm rewired properly this time.
It annoys me when high quality reliable alarms such as TOAD are completely undermined by the feejits who don't don't fit them correctly.
Dizzy cap? err not on a Impreza you won't - their isn't one. Take off the plug leads though, Disconnect the crank sensor, or better still: Take the battery with you

oops didnt know they dont have one.
used to put a chain through the wheel and pedals as well bit steering wheels can be cut cant they?
on a different note, its no problem anymore, the council have put these white street lights in and they are very bright, they have been in a year and not a single car has been done, we also put ours on the drive now, the down side of that is worrying if the kids will scratch them with their bikes and skateboards etc.

cheers guys some good suggestions, was thinking of taking the wheel off and battery out.the alarm was already fitted to the car when i bought it and according to the certifficate,it was fitted at an approved garage. But your right looks like it was wired up to the indicator, and will get it wired properly.lucky my cousin is a mechanic and auto electrician,so hoping if i slip him a few quid he can sort it out without involving the insurance. The police have been real good and the forensic guys have just been and have found some good prints on the plastic casing that covers the steering column,so im hoping the prints will match, but no doubt these lads will get let off with a caution anyway.my main concern now is just getting the car secured.thanks for your suggestions.

If you have a local paper, keep an eye out for any convictions involving two people breaking in to a car, then when they appear, you have a good idea of names, and they sometimes give addresses in our local rag too!!!
Then go visit them!!

yea cheers but ive owned other high performance cars in the past and never had any problems.I am quite well known in the area, just trhough local mates and so on.but there has been an high level of young gangs around the area this last year, all with hoods on.i guess it because ive lived round here for so long and everyone on my street knows me,gave me a false sence of security..im fed up with these gangs of kids, and you can always spot them.shifty looking, hoods up and always looking around like there up to know good..im going to make sure my scoob is double secure from now on...
