Blue oval............so?

The sign of high servicing cost and unreliability...can really see why you would want one of those!!!

If your that bothered about the "blue oval" and you have a scoob I'm sure it will fit nicely in place of Pliedes!!!

WHAT WAS YOUR POINT BY THE WAY?

At the very least, take the motor out and put it in a Lotus 7 body, it'll go faster without the rust

RB5SCOTT,

They may be OLD HAT, but how come you boyz (and everyone else, come to think of it) use them as the benchmark to beat????

Considering they are OLD KNACKERS, they give your Jip Japs a run 4 their money!

***Here we go again***

Ah well..

If my upcoming "new" car is old hat which means:

572 hp
474 lb/ft torque
weight 2300 lbs

0 to 60mph in 3.08 secs (fastest ever was 2.6 secs),
0 to 100mph in 7 secs.
0 to 100mph to 0 in 375 yards
has selectable 2wd or 4wd
50/50 weight distribution with a forward mounted magnesium gearbox

and was deemed one of the cars that was "Too fast to race".

Then so be it

Just because it's a "Cossie" and wears the blue oval doesn't detract in anyway from the rally history and presence of a....

Ford RS 200.

It's just as much a piece of Rally history as my 22B and one of the forebears of the current 4wd generation.

oohhh I love these ones.. it's like mackeral fishing, but for Scoob owners..

hey at least that Cossie owner probably gets his hands oily once in a while (cue some sort of reliability quip :rolleyes , and can break his car with impunity knowing it's easily and cheaply fixed (relatively)

oh - but how can you be self righteous and snobby in a Cossie ? ...major downer I'm sure

and to answer the next two most predictable questions/comments - no, I don't own a ford - never have, so , and yes, I could afford a Scoob, so double

Buddy,

I deny having any knowledge of anyone called Robert, let alone a few of them

Lee,

'fraid not. Purchase should be completed by end of Jan/early Feb, if all goes well.

If you want one, buy one.

You don't have to tell us about it.

Muppetisation? It's what the muppet forum was made for (Sorry Mr C, AWD, Rebecca, Dave T-S et al.. just let it die when it gets there, ok? )

Travelling at high speed in a straight line is an event that most Cossie owners seem to enjoy immensely, as it removes any need for driver ability or decent handling. Put a few bends in the equation, and most Cossie owners quiver with fear!
The fact is that a standard Cossie cannot keep with a standard UK Scoob on any roads or on a circuit. A standard Cossie cannot cover 0-60 or the 1/4 mile as fast as a UK Scoob, neither can it travel at a higher terminal speed.
In fact, a Cossie need to be tuned to nearly 300bhp before it even starts to trouble the standard Scoob in the top speed stakes alone, and still won't match it from A to B.
Yes, you can tune the Cossie to get more power from the engine than you can with a Scoob, but you need to!
Cossies are only used as a benchmark becasue they were the Kings of their time and there are still loads around, but time has moved on.
Besides, 'Cossiekiller' has a nice ring to it!

Stef.
PS And for Richards sake, the RS200 does not count as a production 'Cosworth'.

Stef,

Who pulled your chain......u should be down Thorntons Chocky shop, finding out that they should of used Cadburys instead of Rowntrees, for your engine internals!!!!!!!

Escort Cossie = limited numbers, exclusivity, high residual values, pedestrian Gorp factor, Real history.

New Imprezza = limited numbers , every man & his monk will have one, Lower than LOW values, pedestrian sick bag factor, cheap immatation of the WRC car!!!!!

So

Gary,

You arnt another Scooby Owner into little boyz r u.......Oh dear!!!!!

Shaun.

Hey - It was my cossie that was the car in question.
Sorry stef but a uk scoob isnt really a comparison in the speed stakes and and Sti would leave with its tail between its legs.

I actually quite enjoy corners stef - given that I have some input and actually get to "drive" the car other than be driven by it makes it good fun

Cheers
Martin

Escort Cossie = limited numbers - and lost money on every one sold
exclusivity - because most have broken, burnt, been stolen...
high residual values - because most have broken, burnt, been stolen...
pedestrian Gorp factor - in the "what a goddamed stupid wing, are those things still running" kind of way
Real history - what history has the escort cossie got? (apart from bad )

And the new impreza is a cheap imitation of a rally car?? - kettle calling the pan black ****!!

I had an escort cosworth for 3 years, great in its day, but then the cortina was great in its day. Simply outclassed in every way by the scoob.
