Has anyone ever removed the glass from their wing mirrors?

Is it just a case of pulling (already tried pulling very hard!)

you need to heat up the mirror we use a hair dryer to do this then the glass pops out of the black plasic beeding round it it is still not that easy we break 3 out of ten

I guess there will be screws under the glass which release the mirror surround. I can see the 4 underneath this ( got 2 out already) which hold the motor part to the body-coloured part.
