Cool

All you people who laugh at the way the price is falling but for the ones who cant remember the same thing happened with Cosworth but a couple of years down the line and they climed back to a respectible price.
You see all cars drop in price some more than others but with at most only 1000 being built and a model change you are looking at the next icon remember it is the best and last of the model. The standard UK spec will propably be the one to continue to suffer.
SAFE CHRISTMAS EVERYONE.

Talking

yes!
a proper P1 thread!
i totally agree jason.there will always be people who will want a P1 and nothing else will do.there will be no more available and so 2nd hand prices will be high.
the escort cosworth is a prime example.
compare an m reg escort cosworth price with an m reg scooby price.the reason? you cant buy a new escort cosworth.
long live the P1!!

Unhappy

Firstly I have a Std UK model (2000) but I lust after a P1 no matter what the cost!!!

But I am forced to say that the Escort Cossie was the last perfomance ford for a long time and that is why they held thier value - because of rarity. I don't think that the P1 will be the last prodrive special perhaps a P2 next? (remember Williams Clio.....)

I admit the P1 is a bit special (well for me anyway) and is likely to depreciate less than normal Turbos but as usual only the good ones will retain good prices. I am sure you can pick up Cossies very cheaply if you want to, the same as Intergrales etc.

My real doubt though will be the appearance of the UK STi VII? which may look good and go well with a 3 year warranty. That will surely kill P1 values as P1 owners swap 'em in for these new versions.

Food for thought.

I can see your point Floyd, but I think that being the last of the old style Impreza will balance that out. In fact that is specifically why some people (me included) have bought one.

I might be wrong, usually am, but I hope not.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

April 1st already???

P1 - 1000 in the UK - yes - most unsold

When the faster Impreza appears on these shores in 18 months time - the idea of paying good money for a 2-door saloon will be totally laughable - and whos nicked the radio????

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

Yes sir, we have a lovely 2 door saloon with no radio - not much faster than a standard Turbo but we would like you to give us £10,000 MORE !!!!!!!!! are you stupid sir? .. well are you????

If I wanted a two door Subaru that would hold it's price, I'd buy a 22B.

Just my thoughts!

Thumbs down

Arent they coming down too?, everything is, Subaru or not.

Why the **** are we wasting a whole thread on the virtues of P1 residuals against all other Impreza models?. Who really cares and if you have to write about it then you really need to get out more and stop loving yourself too much

Just bought an immaculate top of the range L reg Range Rover (in addition to the Scoob) for £5,000 (when new £38,000) - the used car market is seriously on its knees.

Yes Dave this is far from a Subaru problem. A friend has just bought an 18 month old V6 Mondeo £21000 new, done 4k miles from a dealer for £6995.

Tell me about it - still hurts when I think of how little I got for my V6 mondeo when I traded it in against the RB5.....

Question

PSLewis,

What has happened in your life to make you such a bitter and unpleasant individual? What pleasure do you get in taking the pi$$ out of people who's cars have depreciated in value?

Are you sure you own a P1 like you suggested in the other thread. Sounds to me asthough you really are Mr Jealous.

Gary.

Are you on Walnut Tree? (it's a place not a drug for those who don't know).

It's just that I've seen a new one around there recently.

You know, the only thing I ever wonder about the P1 is if it has one of those plaques saying which number it is!

Dear Gary Collier - and I thought I was being nice on this thread

No I dont have a P1 - wouldnt buy one at the prices being asked at the moment - I have a Metro 1.3L (as I also said on the other thread) - I DO also have an Impreza of course

Have you thought of taking up stand-up comedy? - well dont, you need a sense of humour

Either way - have a nice Xmas - just ignore me - ok?

Much as I hate to rise to Mr '23k P1' Lewis' bait, I'm informed that there are more like 100 left + those already at the dealers.

Floyd,
'fraid not. I'm on the other side of MK, although I'm in the Bow Brickhill/Walnut Tree area most days.

I think I'll avoid this thread now, before Mr Lewis continues his sad rantings, and Sunil finds a reason to start discussing the magnitude of his dick, again.

Question

There seems to be a number of Impreza/EVO guys in Milton Keynes.

Anyone thought about having a meeting somewhere (I know there's an Aylesbury meet) in MK?

How about meeting outside the Winter Gardens on Friday night?

Seriously though is there any mileage in organising a Milton Keynes meet?

Anil.

Anil

Yes, Yes, No and Yes.

Yes, there are a lot of these in MK.

Yes, I have.

No, I don't think the WinterGardens is wise (I thought it was Sat. by the way ).

And yes I thought that the new Fox and Hounds (A5 south) may be good for a laugh, although I didn't want to suggest it 'cos nobody waves back to me in MK

Let me know peeps.

F

This weeks Autocar has two full page adverts for the P1 - there must be plenty left to warrant that level of expense.

OK,

Just got back from the lunchtime session and waiting for the evening session to begin...don't you just love the city

So , it's time to start an arguement Jason's original point was quite valid about cars fluctuating in values a short while after they have either sold out or ceased production. My tuppence worth is that I cancelled my P1 when I drove a 10 month old RB5 WR and decided the performance difference was not worth the £9000 difference in price. From a sober, as if , perspective the timings available in magazine reviews suggest the only real difference would be the 0-100 time where the P1 is 1, yes a whole 1, second quicker I don't believe I will have a problem selling my RB in the new year whereas IM have overstretched themselves by producing 1000 P1's...or, more likely, greed is the word I am searching for Perhaps the P1 will appreciate, or become stable in second hand values but until ALL are sold, or written off as a few recent threads have discussed, owners will never know. Until then you pays your money you takes your choice, the Impreza family is a wide and varied package based on personal preferences. Me, I like the idea of owning 1 of only 200 or so WR spec RB5's around, much less common than a P1

I'll Probably be bored after Xmas so an MK meet may be an interesting diversion.

I should really start a thread on the events page I suppose.

Don't talk to me about depreciation

Just seen an advert in todays Autocar for an Sti V with AP brakes - £14,995!!!!!!!

Ok it has done 33k, but still, this was a car that was £29,000 just over two years ago.

Remember when Sti IVs were £33k at the main importers - not so long ago.

Christ - I can't understand why the RS BB bods slag us off can you !!?

Aren't all Impreza Turbo's fantastic - so why does everyone feel the need to criticise the different models (and each other) - I thought this was meant to be a friendly community?

With regard to the title of this thread.....

Er...No...they wont...Fact

all cars depreciate rapidly when insurance costs spiral as a result of being 'most nickable' cars.

Happened to my RSTurbo, same again with the cossie and rocketed earlier this year on the STi. Prices hit rock bottom cos no one can shift them (see the trader/ex&m/topmarques etc.

If you try and sell P1 for 'as new' money..good luck, chances are you'll trade it in cos you can't wait for a private buyer who's completely unaware of market values. And you'll take a hiding on it won't you..

sigh !! do wake up...
