Default Clunking from rear MY06

I get a clunking sound from rear when pulling out sharply in first gear with full steering to right and to a lesser degree when full steering to left.
It is not so bad when the DCCD is switched off and set to zero centre diff lock.
Anyone else get this?
Mechanic had a good look at rear end and said everything seemed tight.

It is set on automatic.
TBH I would expect people to say it is a normal transmission noise from the limited slip diffs, DCCD etc.
The only thing wrong with that theory, is that no one else seems to get the same symptoms!

Does it only happen at slow speeds, try doing it without iving the car a hard time.

Could be rear struts??

Yeah, only in first gear when rapidly pulling out into traffic(as you do).
Didn't happen with my 2002 wrx.

STi's are prone for strut failure, especially the rears.

Covered under warranty so you should be ok

On the assumption that I've understood the symptoms you describe in your first post then I get exactly the same thing on my 06 STi. It's the DCCD mate, don't worry about it.

EDIT: Although now I've read your post again it might be the rear struts after all. It's early....I need more caffeine!

Yeah, TBH I am not that worried as I know these transmissions tend to make sounds that are not easy on the mechanically sympathetic ear. Also the noise has never got worse.
However, as it is still under warranty, I think I will have it looked at.
