Took me a while to seperate mine. Ended up having to get a thin chisel and thick paint scrapper to part it. They are a pain in the **** to remove and fit. Fitting them is even worse.

Mine took 2 days, and lots of swearing to get off..... i had to remove it again a few weeks later, and thinking it'd be stuck again, i pulled it, and it fell on my chest..... that hurt!!

Have you removed the large pin that goes through the clutch release bearing fork. If not you wont get the gearbox out until you remove it. Just below where the starter sits there is a big round blanking plug with an alan key drive, remove this and thread a bolt, think its M8 into the pin which will be in the hole left by removal of the blanking plug and pull it out. It may be very stiff I had to use a pry bar to remove it. Hope this helps
