Default Pics of bugeye with blob sti scoop

I'm just wondering if I should change my sti hood scoop to a blob eye 03- sti scoop. Anyone got pics of a bug with a blob scoop?

ive got pics of my Spec C which is essentially an STi with WRX bumpers so might give you an idea only its a blobeye not a Bug so not what you are really looking for.

Oh and before i start getting slated by the bug lovers that was a tongue-in-cheek comment

Here's a couple of pics (not mine). Personally I don't like the blobeye scoop on a bugeye. I think it looks too high. Lots of people would disagree.

yeah I am thinking about getting on mine, I agree that it looks a bit high but rumor has it that it increases air flow to the intercooler.

Just my humble opinion, but I think the STi7 scoop suits the bugeye best, stick with what you've got and just add a zero sports or kakumei splitter under it to improve the airflow.

I did buy mine for more air on the intercooler more than for the looks and when I first fit it I didn't like it that much. The scoop had to come back off after mapping to get repainted as the colour was wrong and when I fit the STi 7 scoop, it looked ........... well ........ err ....... lost. I refitted the STi 9 scoop after painting and it looked too big still but it has grown on me and now it looks good imo, not so much like an after thought. the better colour match helped.

Thats my humble opinion but they do look good with the STi 7 scoop.

Makes me wonder why we think the blob eye looks good with the new scoop, maybe its just because we've got used to the look??!

I think your probably right there

Its there to do a job mind and after the story of the classic scoops not catching air at over 70mph, its better to look to big than not doing what its supposed too

Decided against it, will stick with my sti scoop...

Part of the reason was it's a carbon scoop and wont be colour matched because of it...think it will stick out like a sore thumb.

cheers for the pics guys.

Have found a better look with the big scoop via having a big "stand out" splitter at the front on bug...looks "normal-ish" then...but I've already got a tidy Prodrive splitter, not changing it.

Cheers for all the advice!

The reason the blob-eye got a bigger scoop was due to the chunky high bonnet line. Air flow was missing the scoop.
The bug-eye and hawk-eye models only use a small scoop because they have a lower more aerodynamic bonnet line.
So unless you like the look of the bigger scoop, stick with the normal STi one.

Not having a go but

If you look at the lines of the bugeye bonnet, you will notice that the scoop sit about an inch lower than the bonnet curve due to the recessed part where the scoop sits. Look up the bonnet and you cant see the lower half of the opening of the STi scoop, its wasted really.

The only thing you need to do after fitting the bigger scoop is to modify the air splitter as it doesn't sit high enough with the bigger scoop on. With the STi8/9 scoop, you almost see the full opening and as its nearly an inch higher, thats nearly 3x more air getting in, how can that not be better than the standard STi 7 scoop?

Each to there own, I wouldn't fit a flamer kit as I think they are ladgefull, others wouldn't fit a bigger scoop because they dont like them. But the bigger scoop does increase air flow on to the TMIC.
