Clutchless gear changes...how safe?
As above really how safe are clutchless gear changes for the gearbox, does it cause less stress using the clutch?
Will the clutch last longer (sounds stupid I know)?
Any help/thoughts much appreciated

Save it for holiday rental cars
I did it a lot when I had a rented Corsa to teach driving in, I hated it so much I tried everything to cause it pain. On upshifts you need to let the revs drop as you pass through neutral, blip the throttle on downshifts. Lots of crunching and having to revert to the clutch at first, but the technique soon settles in. I wouldn't do it in any car I cared about, or I was responsible for the repairs of.

I don't seem to get any crunching at all, pretty smooth really especially the downshifts.
So are you saying that it is a bad idea?
I do mean slow clutchless gearchanges with the rev's properly matched by the way....not brutal upshifts etc

I don't think the additions are great on the road, but it is very satisfying.
Been heel and toeing and double declutching for a while now and I suppose it is just another skill to learn and enjoy.
Also will be having a reamp soon to approx 320lbft so might need the skill if my clutch goes

A decent gearbox will change gear very smmothly without the clutch. Done right with matching the revs perfectly no harm will be done, but mismatching revs will put more load on the baulk rings wearing them quicker.
Get it completely wrong and your ******** syncros and grinding the teath off the gears.
There is as much likliness of getting the change wrong as it is to get it right, so it will be of harm becuase of that. Remember; A clutch is far easier and cheaper to replace than the gearbox.
So save it for the rental cars
.......Good practice should the clutch cylinder ever decide to fail and you need to limp back home.
