Default STi8 rear spoiler

ok i've now found 3 replica sti8 rear spoilers which all look the same quality but are different prices.
Has anyone got 1 of these on their car and can say what the fit/ quality is like
JDL - £169 (unpainted)
Revolution - £199 (unpainted)
Scoobyworld - £249 (unpainted)
Scoobyparts - £249 (unpainted)
scoobyclinic - £350 (unpainted)

i'm looking for unpainted as i'm wanting my sideskirts colour coding and it'll work out cheaper having the lot done together

any comments on above spoilers would be great

cheers

When i looked into it a while back, this is what i found but things may have changed on the spoilers they now supply.

Scooby Clinic - Brake light a top not bottom
Scooby World - Solid, not in 2 parts
DRMotorsport - STi replica (in 2 parts)

The one prefered at the time was the DRMotorsport, which if you have a WRX is suitable becasue:

Direct quote from site:

"This is an exact replica of the genuine STi rear spoiler, with the overall size and weight the same.
It is a 2 piece rear spoiler joined half way up the sides, and with a brake light in the bottom section. If you own any WRX or early STi bug-eye Impreza, this spoiler will fit using the original 4 holes in the bootlid. There is no need to drill extra holes with this spoiler. (Once again almost all other suppliers spoilers need new holes drilled as they don't align with the original holes)."

Another thread worthy of having a look at is this one https://www.scoobynet.com/essex-scoo...-spoilers.html

Hope this helps you a little.

I know a few people who've had DRM spoilers and all are happy with them. The glass fibre weave can sometimes be visible under the paint, but apart from that they're OK.

Default STi 8 Spoiler

Hi

Not trying to poach any business from anyone but for anyone interested in an STi 8/9 boot spoiler have a look at our sale list in Traders announcements section.
We have a few left @ £164.99 and they are a spot on fit.

Thanks

Keith

I bought the STi 8 spoiler from Scoobyworld and 100% recomend them, even the body shop that fitted it for me commented on the high quality of the paint job!

I presume the ScoobyWorld one requires additional holes drilling in a WRX bootlid, where as the DRMotorSport ones don't.

I personally want to avoid drilling additional holes so it can be put back to standard if required.

Its all very well using the 4 existing holes but you will find that there will be a gap in the middle of the bootlid where it 'should' be secured also.Ive had 2 drmotorsport rear spoilers and i used only the 4 bolts and to be honest it didnt look right at all besides its a much bigger wing than standard which is why it requires extra securing

No gap with my spoiler, and with the tape that came with it, well it's never going to move.

Are you talking about spoilers for a new age Impreza and not the old classics?

It did have the tape all round the bottom edge of the spoiler.
I think the genuine ones have a foam seal, but mine had the tape that works as a foam seal and extra hold, it's also very sticky.

i bought the sti8 carbon spoiler from scoobyworld ,great peice of kit gets loads of attention at meets and if you add the price of painting to the £249 one itll probably be cheaper to get the carbon one

Did you drill more holes to secure the spoiler or just use the 4 holes and tape?

don't suppose you have a pic of where you drilled?
what size screws did you use (self tappers)?
did you drill into the spoiler base or thread it 1st?

so many questions

The scoobyworld spoiler comes with all the correct screws and the spoiler is predrilled and threaded all you need to do is use the screw locator that comes with the spoiler piece of cake really

ah - i've ordered the DRMotorsport one - they said it fixes with the 4 origional holes and double sided tape

The last STi8 rep spoiler i bought for my bugeye was from s wilsons and they drilled maybe 6-8 extra holes but didn't use tape

might look for some extra screws just to be safe

Well my DRM spoiler arrived today and i wish i hadn't bothered
The finish is ok at a distance but close up there are many imperfections in the paint and the ripples when looking side on or at the ands are terrible.

Looking for the brake light wire i found it by dismantleing the unit as the wire was inside the base of the spoiler and had to be threaded through to the hole?

I removed my origional spoiler to trial fit the new one and 1 of the holes was way out so i had to enlarge it.
After that the spoiler doesn't sit flush on the lid, it sits more to the right than the left but it isn't so noticeable, the worst bit is it rises in the centre (all the way along).
I'm thinking of maybe drilling 4 holes near to the centre and using screws to pull it down so it sits flush - thing is if that doesn't work i'm stuck with 4 holes in the boot lid??????????????

pics attached

Just a quick correction - ours are exact replicas of the STI8 spoiler and such have always been supplied in the 2 part design, with brake light at bottom.
