How would you get around 300bhp out of a v5 Jap STi Wagon.....
Just might be in a position to be purchasing the v5 STI Wagon from here at the weekend.

My First Subura, only previous fast Jap car was a rev 3 MR2 Turbo a couple of years ago and I want it to be faster than that was!
AFAIK that model should put out about 260bhp, is that about right?
What's the best way of getting it up to around 300bhp reliably and on UK 95 RON? If that's not too daft a question.
Car will only ever be used on the road so I assume the standard suspension/brakes will do the job just fine.
Any thought/suggestions welcome.
Cheers

Get it ECUTEK remapped to around 1.3bar, with a decat exhaust and a performance panel filter you should see over 300BHP.
I am sure an ECUTEK mapper will be along shortley to offer their services......

I'd just like to be able to shove any fuel in without worrying about stuffing the engine.
Thinking about it I suppose the price difference between a full tank of 95 and tesco's 99 is only about £3......doesn't really matter does it.
Can you use Super Unleaded (98 RON) without issue?
It also makes it even harder to justify an already thirsty car to the missis when you tell her it'll only run on the expensive stuff.....she's funny like that

The 95/98 thing is a bit of a con anyway, because 97/98 burns better than 95 you get better mpg and power from it, in theory it works out at the same price as 95 would mile for mile, in practice you will probably get more power from having the car mapped for a higher octane fuel

As Tony says, having played lots with 95ron, 97ron, 99ron, plus various boosters and methanol percentages you get better mpg on the higher ron so it pretty much evens out..

Will be seeing it Saturday....and buying it if it's stunning and really a 2x must see!
I've got someone coming over on the train tonight to view my motor so it's pretty much sold.
I think I might go look at that bugeye one first though, just so I have something to compare against.....
Are we all in agreement that Scoobybits are an alright bunch? He seemed like a nice enough fella on the phone.

main findings were increased power and able to map in more ignition therefore more power using up 10% methanol in tank.. more than 10% saw no real gain.. but I didn;t try more than 20%.. didn't run it long enough on my own car to look at mpg.. I often do more than one tankful a day so carrying 10litres of meth is less practical..
Mapped several cars that use it.. always makes a huge difference to timing curve.

I know how many degrees timing extra if that is what you mean..
it is around 20bhp extra depending on the car and setup mapping for 10% meth.. from what I have seen.
