hi i was on way in to work today and as coming of roundabout i put my foot down in 2nd gear and i was doing 6500 to 7000 rpm and my knock link was flashing on the third light is this normal for the rpm i was doing as never reved it that high before, and what can i do to help stop this as dont want to blow engine

Well you could stop revving it so high

Not having a knocklink what's the colour of the light if it's red i would suggest not doing it again.
