Default smoke from dashboard ..or is it ?

Hiya lads ,,,,,i wonder if you can direct me , ive noticed over the past week or so my window screen has started to steam up very easily ,i thought it must of just been the cold but i thinik i may be wrong ,, the past two days , when ive started my car and start to drive if my heating is on hot , and even when not switched on ,my window screen starts to steam up ,and it looks a brownish colour , twice like a load of brown smoke came from dash board when i put the heating on , it doesnt smell like anything burning but it doesnt smell to good. the car has airconditioning but i dont use it ....as ive heard it may be air conditioning but not sure , anyone come across the same fault that could help me and advise me on what to do , its a my 95 jap import ,thanks alot

I've had cars that have blown out a lot of moist air when starting up but only for a few seconds and that was always on a hot day after the a/c had been used and turned off.

If it was me I'd have the heater matrix checked, but I'm no expert.

could very well be the heater matrix. have a check around the passenger footwell to see if it is damp. If it is the matrix then I believe it is a very fiddly job to replace.
