Default Clutch noise help

My 1998 Classic has just develpoed a low squeal when the clutch is half engaged in first and reverse ie when 'riding' it at low speeds in traffic, carparks etc. I can also 'feel' a mechanical whirring through the gear stick at the same time. Normal starts with more revs and quicker release are fine.

My clutch was new 5000 miles ago, one of the Exedy ones from API along with lightened flywheel, and I don't do full bore starts etc, but do do a lot of driving in traffic.

Anyone know what this might be?

Cheers for advice. Is it 'safe' to persist with this for long (am at least 2 weeks away from getting it to a garage?
