Default Heavy clutch - sometimes

My STIv3 has an excessively heavy clutch after slow/traffic driving. I'm not expecting a Fiesta style feather light clutch.

However, after a burst of acceleration it seems to immediately become a lot more managable. Any ideas?

Sometimes the pedal gets slightly stuck but I've already read lots of threads about this, seems a common issue.

Biting point is also very high, mechanic seems to think it may need replacing but there's absolutely no signs of slipping - juddery when cold though.

Has your car had the turbo heat shield removed?

The heat shields there (assuming its the piece of metal with a crossed out hand on it) but no idea if it has ever been removed. What would happen if it had been?

Just look where your clutch reservoir is pretty much above that heat shield (well it was on my classic ) remove it and it cooks, then you get a heavy clutch, especially in standing/slow moving traffic

Id still go for the fact its where the reservoir is, even with the heatshield on the heat in standing/slow traffic will increase as there is no decent air flow, new age cars dont have this problem as they moved it
