what bhp can a standard sti clucth take?

Lightbulb what bhp can a standard sti clucth take?

its just come to me that im uping the power on my sti but my clucth may not be able to handle the extra power the car is a 95 sti modds will be

fmic,440cc injectors,full de cat,walbros fuel pump,induction,and remap by zen not sure what bhp it will make but will the standard clucth take it or should i start thinking about fitting a better one if so what one?!? thanks

If in good condition it will be fine omho.
Mine tolerated 314 bhp, but the torque is what kills the clutch.

I would suggest an upgrade to AP Organic or Exedy. Paul will advise you well.

My AP has done 150+ of these with racing slicks on the car and is still ok, no slip, no smells and 8000 road miles too:

It was during mapping at around 340 bhp that we found the clutch on an STi6 had very slight slippage.
The problem was a lack of clamp pressure.
Generally the standard clutch is OK for 320-340 bhp before you hit any problems but it will vary car to car. Obviously 340 bhp on the standard clutch and its life is shortened and how the driver treats the clutch is a major factor.
