Default EJ25 engine into '96 WRX ?

I've seen an EJ25 engine for sale and was wondering if it will drop straight into my '96 wrx ?
I've asked the guy what car it's from and he just said it has EJ25 stamped on it ?
Is it the same as an EJ257 ?

The Nat Asp EJ25's (quad cam) are open deck block as opposed to the semi closed of the EJ257, could it be a nat asp engine?

If its from a naturally aspirated Outback or something it'll last about an hour on a turbio car before a piston falls to bits.

Be careful.

David

PS all 2 litres are EJ20 even if they are 8 valve cooking cars and all 2.5's are EJ25. Until you take it to bits you cannot be certain what the engine is.

I think it's the N/A EJ25 as the guy isn't sure if it's from an Impreza or a Legacy.

Thought it was too good to be true
