Car is now coming up to 3 years old. As Ill probably only keep it for another year is it worth taking out the extra waranty. How much does it cost and are there any major problems that are likely to be costly to put right that tend to occur after the first three years.

Jerry B recently renewed his, I think for 2 extra years... one month after which he had a new clutch and new gear box done under warranty, so in his case 500 quid well spent on extending it.
He'd done about 50K miles.

I didnt think the clutch would be covered under extended warranty being friction part like pads etc.

Extended is same basic cover as initial warranty.
Well worth it PROVIDED YOU HAVE NO MODIFICATIONS WHATSOEVER TO THE CAR. I speak from bitter experience - piston slap on a '98 with extended warranty not covered. As stated in the warranty booklet - any non standard parts will void the warranty. Mine had some engine mods.
