Auto gearbox problem???
hiya, i've got an 1995 WRX Wagon and i'm having a slight problem with the gearbox, When i take off the car changes sweet from 1st too 2nd and then moves sweet into 3rd and then all of a sudden it's s if the clutch is slipping on a manual one if u know what i mean, it just revs with no pull! i know very little about the auto gearboxs so any help or suggestions would be most appreciated
Hi there, I also have a 1995 wrx auto, had the same problem around 2 yrs ago & it was a gearbox out job im afraid.....
sounds to me like something called a "high clutch pack" failure, its a transmission specialist job unless your very handy with gearbox internals..
I pulled the gearbox out in my driveway, gave it to my local transmission repair man ( paid I think about £250 but not sure ) & stuck the box back in myself ( its a fair weight but do-able solo with a trolley jack & brute force ) had no problems since.
You could be lucky & its something stupid like low tranny oil, but I guess if you've gone as far as posting you've probably checked that, engine running & at normal temp, select all positions & return to P them check dipstick oli level( rear passenger side of engine )
alternatively leave it in 3rd & waste a bit of fuel ! it probably wont get any worse.....

Probably low fluid level, they dont seem to accommodate for servicing auto boxes.... shame really, though if you keep using it, it will end up costing you a packet, can mean a new gearbox if your unlucky
