98 is on the high side unless you are driving it very hard mine sits at between 88-92 on ordinary driving and 96-100 on hard driving

The 2.5 does run hotter than the 2.0 though, what are your coolant temps like?

Mine runs 90ish normal driving and up to about 95 on harder driving, that is a WRX though and not an STi.

shadower - that is fine mate.

my 2.5 runs around 95 on cruise but with the extra power in yours and a new engine build it will run warmer for a while I am sure until it loosens up.

mine, 80 when cruising, 90 max when driving like i stole it lol

p.s. mines a classic and has a huge uprated oilcooler

also been told up to 110 is ok, higher and you could have problems (never used to take mine over 105 before cooler was fitted)

depends on what oil you are running.

I run Millers 10/60 so good for 125C without degrading (in theory) and gets changed every 5000 or less.
