Default strange noises after 90k service

Hi Folks
Recently had a 90k service(cambelt) done on my 96 Sti2 and have since been hearing a tinny, rattling sound in 1st, 2nd & sometimes 3rd. Its similar to the noise a dodgy heat sheild makes. There is also a whining noise which rises a falls with revs coming from, i think, the power steering.

Checked all fluids & heatsheilds, seem ok, anyone any ideas? Had the cambelt tensioner done with cambelt, garage said it was loose when they removed covers to do service.

Any help much appreciated, cant get back to garage till next week.

Cheers

The whine could be an over-tight alternator drive belt, also check the power steering fluid level.

Agree with John.. the powersteering will whine if the fluid level is not on the max.

the tinny noise is probably a heat shield.

are you absolutely sure the 'rattle' is coming from the front-end of the engine?

i had a 90k service on mine 2 years ago and within 2 days developed a 'rattle' which I thought was the heatshield. Turned out to be the bottom-end!!!

not saying that's what you've got, but I'd keep off-boost until you've confirmed whats going on.
