Default Coil Packs on a RA

Can someone tell me where the coil packs are on a 1996 STI RA. Pics would be good. I have changed the spark plugs but could not see anything that looked like a coil pack from the pics i have seen on here
Many Thanks Neil

if you changed the plugs then you should of pulled the coil pack off the top of the plug to take the plug out.

the coil packs look like this Damaged Coilpack

Is it a V2 or V3 car (pre or post facelift)? Either yours is a late 96 V3 or its an early 96 V2 and someone has swapped the ignition system for the later one.

It is a late 1996 V3 but not a face lift it has the old style dash and bumper. It is a red top engine and has 4 leads coming from a centre block,at the end of the leads there is a thick black rubber tube which plugs on the spark plug. Any body have any ideas it stalled on me again today. I am hopefully replacing the speedo cable as this is not working and could be part of the problem. Also thinking of getting rid of my DV and go back to standard. Just trying anything now. I think Stealers here i come

Please help Neil

okay you dont have coil packs.

Is it stalling when you pull up at junctions etc? does it idle okay?

If the speedo isnt working then that should put you into limp mode, however it shouldnt cause the car to stall. Bit more detail on the stalling though and someone may be able to help

When I start the car it fires ok and then sits around the 900rpm and then goes to around 1300rpm. It sounds rough and when i put my foot on the clutch it drops all the way down and some times stalls. When i start it again it does first time. I also noticed got a back fire was in a 30 limit at time so not pushing it.
Thanks Neil

you can try the likes of API for the lambada and the maf. It could possibly be an air leak somewhere, sometimes on the earlier classics the pipe from the intercooler to the turbo can become brittle, but I dont know if yours would be the same type of pipe with it being an sti. Try the following link, it will tell you how to read error codes stored on your ecu, and how to also reset them.
I would initially reset your ecu and go for a little drive (dont cane it) it may drive a bit funny at first but will be okay after a few minutes of driving, then I would check for any codes and see what it brings up.
