called my local subaru guys (cas motorsport) and thats what they said it could be as behind the "timing" somethin or other there are lots of potential places for oil to leak from. Should i be concerned about a big bill coming in?!!

it depends where you go. I had mine done when i had my new engine built so have no idea what it would cost in the car. Best to normally have the cambelt done at the same time though. The actual seal only costs about a fiver though

The seal itself will cost you about a fiver.

If your timing belt is contaminated with oil add another £100.

Labour should be 3 hours tops

Plus a couple of litres of coolant.

may as well do the oil and filter too

Worst case scenario about £300 i reckon
