Default Gear box oil? 80W 90?

Does anyone know if I can use 80W 90 Caltex oil? It doesn't say synthetic on the bottle... I just need to top it up.

Thanks allot.

Thanks for replying. Not sure what's in it and I've just driven the car from South Africa to Zimbabwe. Needless to say there are not really any experts here in Zim. I was told be a mechanic yesterday to put Auto Transmission Fluid (ATF) in because it's thinner.

Don't do that! The box is designed to use fluid to GL5 spec. It could be 80w/90 but preferably 75w/90 semi-synthetic. Got a feeling the oil you quote is plain mineral oil.
