Hi all,

A bit of feedback. Had a MY99 ECU fitted to my MY00 (thanks chins for the donation ) to help with the flat spots, hesitating, **** on petrol, etc.

HELLO, I think we've cracked it chaps!!! Done 300 miles since picking her up yesterday, but with the decat downpipe removed and the standard one on, she's running perfect

Removing the downpipe had nothing to do with the problem, just some ****** from ACL (fleet managers) kicking off about insurance (company car). Car belongs to us

Thanks to Phil, Martin, Dave, Kelly, etc at Tileys, a few others that have mailed me offline (you know who you are)

Anyway, early days so don't want to start MY00 Owners doing a group panic buy, but it's certainly helped me.

Floydd, go for it mate....

Cheers Phill C

Big Bear,

It's wired up but all set to zero at the moment. Need to get on the rolling road to setup and confirm that the power has return. I know it has though.

Phil,

The 99 and 00 ECU's are the same (someone?) so presumably, there was just a fault with your ECU?

Glad you've got it sorted m8

mutant_matt,

I bet IM will argue the toss, that my ECU isn't faulty!!! I don't think the ECU is faulty as such, maybe to say the code on the ECU is crap and using an earlier version of code has helped my problem.

Dealer reckons that 80 percent of people don't even notice it, but I did!!

Trouble is IM can't apparently read the code on the ECU once it's been blown on to it. This seems really strange!! So there no way of telling the version of code, any car is running Seems like really old technology to me

Cheers Phill C

PS I hope your problems have now been resolved

My dealer reckoned most people didn't notice overboost, so I just believe what I think about the car now - after all its my car and I drive it FFS!

Phill,

Who do you deal with at Tileys? ie. who is the mosy helpful / knowledgeable? I've got to take mine in soon (also MY00) for a potential gearbox fault!!!

Cheers,

Mark.

PS What are you doing with the SS downpipe now ?- are you interested in selling it?

That's good news Phil. I have an ECU being sent to me now so I hope to restore the power that I had in my MY99 car. My car doesn't run badly, it's just a little down on power compared to earlier cars.

When we looked at this solution in an earlier post (RR day in Misc)where I said that mechanically the MY99's and MY00's were the same. On paper the torque was different according to IM so I concluded that the ECU must be different in some way.

Anyone who has had a MY99 and then a MY00 and noticed a difference, has said that the power is down on later cars amoung other things. I am lucky that I haven't had hesitation troubles or anything else but I do miss the extra oomph! If I can regain this then I'll be happy.

markcp,

Sorry mate, the downpipe isn't for sale. Just waiting for the company to add to the insurance then back on again!!!

I always deal with Phill (service manager) he's the most helpful, and to be honest goes the extra mile . Even when I'm drama'ed up and lary, he's very helpful.

If anyone with a crap MY00 wants to drive mine to see, I'm in Bristol, and can meet you.

Floyd,

Fair play to you for thinking about trying this ECU cahnge. I was just about to give the car back. I'm loving it, loving it, loving it

Cheers Phill C

Whats with this cr@p MY00??
Never had a problem with mine
No hesitation, no surging (well just a bit when you hit the turbo ) bit of clutch judder but intermittent, no lag, goes like the clappers (Has a spare ecu if anyone wants to swap their knackered one ) had her PPP'd so i think i must have just got a good un

Question

Tony,

Floyd/Phill

ever noticed how most of the happy MY00 owners have added a PPP .

there are just too many people with MY00(V,W,Xreg) cars, who have owned/driven MY98/99 saying the same.one of the fastest scoobs I drove was a R reg with 1600miles,performed same as a S with 40000m and another with 12000m.

to me the R and S reg cars are best (without piston slap)and is possibly why the PPP did not make much of a difference to 98 models.still convinced they are faster than the MY99 Treg.
