Maybe you're low on oil. Or wrong grade of oil. Sounds like tappets.

I was driving from Cornwall to London, got about half way, pulled into the services for the obligatory engine cool down period, and when the car dropped down to between about 1000 and 2200rpm the engine noise sounded like a loud tapping / ticking (or loud clicking overemphasis of the engine ticking over - if that makes any sense)
It happened again today on the way to work - and i'm getting a little worried...

It's a MY00 with 20k on the clock

It's kind of like when you start the car from cold the tickover sounds really loud - but a lot louder again

hope this makes sense to someone.......

 

could be your boost solenoid ticking, sometimes it can be quite loud.
