Anyone had one?? trying to find out how good/bad they are.
I know I should get a 2.8 as its more reliable than the weaker 2.5.
But most seem to be auto. what sort of "real time " MPG could I expect??
cheers

Ive got two, a 2.8 N plate exceed with mechanical pump and a 2.8 P reg, Fieldmaster with the electronic type fuel pump.
I had a 2.5 SWB, but sold that as compared to the 2.8, its terrible, and has a cambelt that needs changing.
All 2.8 have chains, therefore dont need replacing, MPG driven carefully 25/28. Not quick, but once rolling its not bad. The electronic pump models, later n / early p's, are quicker.
All run on veg oil, 50:50, although in my 2.5 i ran it during the summer with 95% veg. :-)
Very good cars, reliable, good value for money.

nothing wrong with either 2.5 or 2.8 (weaker 2.5
)
changing the cam belt is about the easiest i have ever done on any car (less maybe the family 2 Vauxhall engine) on the 2.5 - hardly rocket science
both around about 25mpg if oil burners, the 2.8 just has a little more grunt
boringly reliable with one of the most capable 4wd systems on the market and the ability to change on the move

loved mine and would have another one any time
