Question

right, next year *might* see me on track but i'm worried about noise levels. the Apex N1 is a bit on the loud side and that's without the downpipe that will eventuallty be purchased and fitted.

I'm worried that it won't pass the noise restricions on certain tracks (hopefully bedford will be the first track, am told it's good for newbies as there's great run off)

so, where and how can I find out how loud the car actually is. and if it is too loud what can be done about it?

JohnD on this thread http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...threadid=57403 says he's got a sound meter which would do the db bit. I think he's in Essex - nearish to you?
On the making it quieter (if you need to), just use a quieter backbox. The Remus one is pretty cheap & seriously quietens down a straight-through system, and appears to me (as in not measured) to have a no-more restrictve flow than the Scoobysport, just a lot more muted. I don't know of any other really quiet ones - sorry

thanks. the changing backbox bit is not really acceptable to me as I don't want to purchase another backbox as it'd only be used for trackdays, plus there is the added hassle of having to fit and remove it before and after the trackday.

Changing backbox hassle? noooooooooo! 10 minute job & you get to play with vaseline! But another cost, yup. I don't think there's anything else that can be done to make it quieter, though, without removing what you've just put in
