Default Gas Door not Opening...

I have a 02 impreza, and the gas door will not open, I pull the lever and it sounds like the cable is moving.. What are my possible problems, and solutions?

I assume you are talking about the Petrol flap. The cable may well have come off at the flap end (or snapped but I doubt it). You might be able to access this area from within the boot. You'll have to take the trim out and have a look around. Im sure someone will be along shortly to confirm how this is done.

LOL I was thinking this was about an oven that wouldn't open and someone's dinner might be burning!

Get someone to put some pressure on the flap ,while someone else operates the lever, hopefully that will be enough to get the flap open.

I can get it open it just involves a ice scraper and a little force..
Does anyone have any other ideas of fixing it...

When the flap is open get someone to pull the lever in the car and see if you can see the release mechanism move at all ......... like I said earlier its probably just the cable out of its locating lug ..... take the trim out of the inside of the boot and you'll probably see the problem instantly and easily fix it.

If you saw it located Ok at the boot end ... it must have come loose at the lever end I assume ...

I dissassembled the "boot" end and when i pull the release leaver the plunger wil moved and the cable moves. But when i reassemble, there is a slit cut that i can see the cable moving but it is too long.

So what I have conluded..

Both "lead" ends are attached.

Cable is too long.

I tried to take the "leaver" end apart but cannot get it to come up off the floor... The bolt on the bottom, i can't tell what kind of bolt it is to take it off..

So any thoughts..
