Default new engine-optons

Hi All,
Just had my car checked and no compression on No.2.
Been told I need a new engine....any idea of my options?
CVC quoted me just under £3000 for a recon engine fitted.
Any other options open to me.....seems a bit steep .

personally go to one of the specialist like API or Zen. 3k for a recon is steep, I am sure API can build you one for less than that and will also be reliable and warranted as well

I have just seen this and have asked here who quoted, as we seem to have no record of you.

Let me know the year model and l'll confirm. Depending upon what year model the car is makes a lot of difference to the costs.

Get it done properly (e.g. at somwhere like APi), pay once.

Your choice. Who are CVC?? What is their experience of building Subaru engines?

Just had mine rebuilt at API and am very happy with the results. As above, if that was the quote you received then that seems quite reasonable to me.

I got mine done at API as I've heard nothing but praise about them. I got severely turned over several years ago with a Fiesta rst and promised myself to only go to garages with the best reputations. API may not be down the road from you but IIRC they can collect and deliver your car.

I have nothing against the company you have mentioned, but I've never heard of them.

Still awaiting a free bacon sarnie from David though

How about a 2.5 conversion. For around the same price Zen just installed a 2.5 conversion in my brothers STI 3 RA. A standard rebuild was quoted for well under 3k....
My advise would be to give Zen a call, they are very professional, do excellent work and friendly as well as affordable.....

Hi David,
Spoke to someone at API yesterday and that is the quote they gave me.
I have a '99 UK classic.

I you can get a recon unit for that price but a new block is more.
Then there is all the labour and other things me thinks.
